Obstetric Hemorrhage Community of Learning: Now Enrolling Interested Hospitals

Obstetric hemorrhage remains a leading cause of preventable maternal morbidity and mortality in the United States. Timely recognition and response are critical to saving lives and improving maternal outcomes. Guided by the AIM Obstetric Hemorrhage Patient Safety Bundle, this Obstetric Hemorrhage Community of Learning, starting from September 2025 to April 2026, is tailored to meet the varying needs of Minnesota’s rural, urban, and suburban communities. This program was designed with equity in mind, recognizing that resources, staffing, and access vary across the state.

At the end of March, we concluded our Eat, Sleep, Console (ESC) Community of Learning (COL), focused on addressing the opioid crisis among vulnerable populations, particularly newborns with Neonatal Opioid Withdrawal Syndrome (NOWS). We’re pleased to share the MNPQC ESC Final Report, which includes tools, resources, tested changes, a family of measures, results from participating hospitals, and more.

LINK ECHO Series Session 6: Strategies for Developing Family Care Plans

On July 21st, MNPQC’s LINK ECHO Series will highlight local-level strategies for developing and implementing Plans of Safe Care to support pregnant and parenting people affected by substance use. A featured Minnesota county representative will share their approach to creating effective, family-centered plans that promote coordination across healthcare, child welfare, and community support systems. Participants will learn about practical tools, collaborative workflows, and lessons learned that can help improve outcomes for families and ensure compliance with federal requirements.

Birth Equity Community Council

The Saint Paul-Ramsey County Birth Equity Community Council (BECC) was founded in 2017 when a proposal and training program was implemented by CityMatCH and its birth equity cohort. BECC’s main mission is to look for periods of risk associated with perinatal care and inform the community on areas with the greatest opportunities for impact. BECC places a special emphasis on the integration of both qualitative and quantitative data.

Perinatal Substance Use Workforce Development Project

The Perinatal Substance Use Workforce Development Project offers innovative training for healthcare professionals in perinatal health. Its goal is to enhance knowledge of evidence-based practices and minimize the effects of opioid and substance use disorders on mothers and infants. The project provides concise e-learning modules focused on effective care for individuals with substance use disorders (SUD).
