Legislation Introduced to Support Maternal Mental Health and Address Substance Use Disorders

03.22

Last week, bipartisan legislation was introduced in both the House and Senate to reauthorize and expand maternal mental health screening and treatment grants. The Into the Light for Maternal Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders Act of 2021 (H.R.7073/S.3824) expands funding for maternal mental health screening and treatment grants administered by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to reach more states and to include more culturally and linguistically-diverse trainings and services. The Act will also authorize $10 million in yearly appropriations for the 24/7 Maternal Mental Health Hotline.
