Birth Equity Community Council
The Saint Paul-Ramsey County Birth Equity Community Council (BECC) was founded in 2017 when a proposal and training program was implemented by CityMatCH and its birth equity cohort. BECC’s main mission is to look for periods of risk associated with perinatal care and inform the community on areas with the greatest opportunities of impact. BECC places a special emphasis on the integration of both qualitative and quantitative data.

Birth Justice Collaborative
The Birth Justice Collaborative was launched in 2022, when four African American and American Indian led organizations partnered with Hennepin County to co-designing strategies to improve birth outcomes for their communities. They are now using that knowledge and wisdom to acknowledge and address the impacts of racism, advocate for and radically reform policy and payment, expand culturally meaningful workforce pathways, advance and expand anti-bias accountability programs, and invest in a network of trusted cultural providers and resources.

Family Spirit
Family Spirit is an evidence-based home visiting program developed for and with Indigenous communities. Developed by the Johns Hopkins Center for Indigenous Health in partnership with tribal communities, Family Spirit optimizes local cultural assets and resources.
