Dr. Ghassemi is a double board-certified psychiatrist in Adult and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry with over 14 years of experience. Trained at the Mayo Clinic, she serves as Director of Perinatal Mental Health Program Services at PrairieCare and specializes in perinatal mood and anxiety disorders during pregnancy, the postpartum period, and early motherhood. She helped develop PrairieCare’s Perinatal Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), a specialized multidisciplinary program focused on maternal mental health, attachment, and family-centered care for mothers and young children. Dr. Ghassemi is a recognized leader and advocate in perinatal mental health, has presented at conferences regionally and nationally, and has spearheaded statewide legislative efforts to improve maternal mental health access and care. She serves as a perinatal mental health clinical expert on the DSMB for the National Institute of Mental Health-funded IMPACT Trial.
