Leslie Carranza, MD, MHS

Leslie Carranza, MD, MHS, is an Assistant Professor at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Her previous roles include serving as a Patient Safety Officer and most recently as the Quality Chair of the OBGYN Department. Dr. Carranza was recently accepted into the Kern Center for the Science of Health Care Delivery Scholar’s program. The Kern Scholars Program rigorously assesses and improves patient-centered outcomes and health care delivery systems.

Her research interests include communication with patients and families following unexpected/adverse events and medical errors. She is also actively engaged in improving indicators for monitoring the quality of care during pregnancy and childbirth, as well as patient-reported outcomes and measures of patient-reported satisfaction with childbirth services.
Dr. Carranza received her medical degree from the University of Minnesota in the Twin Cities, completed her OBGYN residency at the University of Washington in Seattle, and earned a Master’s in Health Policy from the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health.
