Draft perinatal health strategic plan recommendations seeks community feedback
The Perinatal Sub-committee and Innovations for Maternal Health Outcomes in Minnesota (I-MOM) team are excited to present the draft perinatal health strategic plan recommendations.
Background: The committee spent the last several months creating a strategic plan on perinatal health. Rather than creating this plan from scratch, the committee built off and aligned existing efforts across state, county, and community level initiatives on perinatal health. Ten reports with over 300 recommendations were reviewed. After rounds of adapting, editing, and prioritization, the committee created 13 recommendations.
Ask: We need your feedback on these recommendations.
- You can either provide feedback on all of the recommendations or pick and choose the topics that you have most expertise in.
- Please fill out the feedback on perinatal health survey by 12/30/2024.
- A $25 incentive is available for completing the survey (more instructions can be found in the survey).
- Your feedback is valued and crucial to ensure that the plan aligns with what our communities need.
Once feedback has been collected, the strategic plan will be revised and shared on the perinatal sub-committee webpage. Additionally, action work groups will be created to implement each recommendation.
Thank you so much!

The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) has been partnering with Proof Alliance and Wilder Research on a CDC grant-funded project to better understand the diagnostic process and care pathways for families impacted by Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASDs). MDH is wrapping up its quantitative and qualitative data collection for this project and hopes to convene a task force of stakeholders to inform data interpretation, identify actionable recommendations, and assist with dissemination activities.
As a key figure working to promote the health and success of children and families in your community, we invite you to join our FASD task force and/or consider sharing with your colleagues who may work with families impacted by FASDs.
The FASD task force will be convened in January through the summer of 2025, and we hope to meet up to once a month for no more than two hours. The objectives of this group will be to validate and interpret our project findings, develop recommendations, and identify appropriate channels and audiences to share them with. We also ask task force members to reach out to their connections and professional networks where appropriate to help disseminate information from this project. FASD task force members will be compensated for their time in the form of $100 gift cards for every meeting attended.
Please see the attached info sheet for additional details. If you are interested in joining, please complete our FASD task force Interest Form, and please also feel free to share this opportunity with others who may be interested. If you have additional questions, reach out to me at micah.wilkins@state.mn.us or to Ali Ruprecht at ali.ruprecht@state.mn.us.
Thanks for your consideration, and please share this opportunity with your network!
