Building on FUTURES Without Violence’s previous sessions—where they defined the critical challenges in rural maternal health and explored promising ideas for solutions and investment—the Rural Maternal and Infant Health Initiative invites you to its third virtual event.

This session will focus on how to scale successful community-based models, grow the local perinatal workforce, and deliver impact for families in rural communities.

While every community has unique needs, meeting families where they are is essential. This includes offering support for trauma, mental health, substance use, and intimate partner violence. To show how these approaches work on the ground, this event brings in new speakers from different states across the country and Puerto Rico to share how scalable models and tools—like universal education and telehealth—are already actively delivering care, preventing harm, and supporting healing.

Participants will explore:
· How doulas, midwives, community health workers, and home visitors build trust and deliver compassionate care.
· How digital tools and telehealth are connecting families in under-resourced areas with support.
· What it takes to ensure these models continue to grow.
· Strategies from different state programs that are making rural perinatal health safer and more accessible through a community-based workforce.
