IMPLICIT improves birth outcomes while promoting the health of women, children, and families. The IMPLICIT Interconception Care Model is a cutting-edge model that embeds care for moms who might become pregnant again into well-child visits. It is a preventive care model that incorporates assessments and referrals.

The MDH Birth Defects and Children and Youth with Special Health Needs Programs are supporting clinic sites to implement the IMPLICIT model to screen, coach, and refer women during well-child checks for smoking, depression, family planning, and/or folic acid.
