Listen to Part 2 of Annie’s Story: A Mother’s Journey From Crisis to Advocacy

When Annie woke from a coma after suffering an Amniotic Fluid Embolism (AFE), no one sat down to explain what had happened or where her baby was. She spent five days not knowing if he had survived.

Part 2 of Annie’s story sheds light on the life-changing aftermath, the trauma, the recovery, and the advocacy she now leads to ensure others are not alone and to advance systemic change that supports all mothers after childbirth, physically and emotionally.

Postpartum Patient Experience Survey

MNPQC is currently collecting Postpartum Patient Experience Surveys on Navigating Perinatal Healthcare with Substance Use Disorder in Minnesota. The anonymous survey takes 15-20 minutes to complete, and participants can receive a $20 gift card. Available in English, Spanish, Hmong, and Somali.

The Department of Human Services (DHS) is seeking input and experiences to support the next phase of the MN Transforming Maternal Health (TMaH) model design and VBP payment strategy. Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders are among the most common complications during pregnancy and the first year postpartum, yet they are often underdiagnosed and undertreated, despite their impact on mothers, families, and birth outcomes. To support clinicians, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) is sharing the Lifeline for Moms Perinatal Mental Health Tool Kit, which offers practical guidance, algorithms, and clinical insights to help identify and treat perinatal mental health conditions.
The Sagent’s, formerly known as Nystrom and Associates, Mother Baby Program addresses the variety of changes that motherhood can bring by providing a supportive and non-judgmental atmosphere where mothers will learn strategies for coping with postpartum depression and anxiety, develop skills to help them bond with their child/children, and learn ways to handle stressful situations. The goal of the program is to learn healthy ways of coping with these changes, in addition to discovering more about the birthing process and the hormonal fluctuations your body undergoes during pregnancy and after childbirth.
