Hi, we are the Minnesota Perinatal Quality Collaborative (MNPQC)

As a statewide Perinatal Quality Collaborative (PQC), we partner with over 77 organizations—including hospitals, health systems, professional groups, government agencies, and community organizations—to improve birthing care in Minnesota.

At MNPQC, we aim to ensure that all families receive the best care before, during, and after pregnancy. To achieve this, we support hospitals and healthcare facilities in implementing Quality Improvement (QI) Initiatives, Community of Learnings, and Sprints. These efforts foster connections across disciplines and gather meaningful information to inform future care.

Why Does This Matter

A Call to Action for Perinatal Care

Minnesota is proud to be recognized as one of the best states for giving birth, with growing participation in the MNPQC and lower preterm birth, maternal mortality, and infant mortality rates compared to the national average. However, significant challenges remain. Ensuring equitable care is essential to improving outcomes for all Minnesotan families.

Minnesota has 73 birthing hospitals. Of those, 44 are considered “birth friendly” (about 59%).

In 2023, 43% of all Minnesota’s births occurred at hospitals and healthcare facilities engaged in an MNPQC initiative.

Perinatal Healthcare Professionals Engaged

Since 2018, the MNPQC has engaged perinatal healthcare professionals in Initiatives, Community of Learnings and Sprints.
