Innovative Doula Practice, Programs and Policies to Eliminate Maternal Health Disparities

Increasingly doulas are recognized for the important role they play in meeting the needs of birthing people and how they can improve maternal health outcomes. However, the understanding of what is a doula and their responsibilities varies widely. Doulas face many challenges in their role as a part of the health care team and within the health system. This webinar will provide an overview of innovative approaches and strategies in community-based doula practice, programs, and policies in Rhode Island.
Objectives Define what is a doula, their scopes of practice, and how they can improve maternal health outcomes Identify 3 key issues doulas face as maternal health practitioners Describe innovations in doula practice, programs, and policies to eliminate maternal health disparities Identify resources that further describe how doulas can contribute to reducing maternal health disparities
