SUMMARY:Cultivating Community and Sowing Change for Children Exposed to Domestic Violence
DESCRIPTION:The National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center\, in partnership with the National Center to Advance Peace for Children\, Youth\, and Families (NCAP)\, is hosting its inaugural symposium\, Cultivating Community and Sowing Change for Children Exposed to Domestic Violence in Minneapolis\, on June 2-3\, 2026. This two-day gathering will bring together leaders\, advocates\, practitioners\, researchers\, and survivors in the fields of Domestic Violence and Child Welfare to connect\, share community-rooted knowledge\, and highlight solutions that help children exposed to domestic violence remain connected to safe caregivers\, supportive communities\, and pathways to healing. They will have keynotes from culturally specific organizations\, youth\, state coalitions\, and other key leaders in the field. \nThe symposium is designed to foster meaningful relationships across the many intersections working to support children and families. By bringing people together\, they hope to deepen collective understanding and uplift community-grounded approaches that promote safety\, belonging\, and resilience. \nTogether\, they will exchange practical strategies for prevention and early intervention and strengthen the collaborations needed to ensure children and families have the support they need to heal and thrive. DESCRIPTION:MDH family home visiting is excited to offer an in-person Mothers and Babies facilitator training on Thursday\, June 11\, from 8:15 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. at the Dakota County Northern Service Center in West Saint Paul. This training is intended for home visitors and supervisors of family home visiting programs funded by MDH who have not been previously trained in Mothers and Babies. \nIf you are interested and available in attending the training\, please have your supervisor read through the Mothers and Babies Facilitator Training Info Sheet (PDF) and complete the Mothers and Babies Facilitator Training Interest Survey. Supervisors can complete one form for up to five home visitors who are interested in the training. \nNote: This form is not an official registration. Diving into the process of the screenings\, talking with families\, connecting with specialists\, and offering informed support to caregivers\, this Project ECHO series will empower providers to give the best care to young patients with a positive newborn screening test. Connect with peer clinicians through what can feel like a daunting process—guiding parents of a newborn through a diagnosis for a condition they’ve likely never heard about.
