SUMMARY:Perinatal Substance Use ECHO: Traditional Tobacco Use for Pregnant and Parenting People
DESCRIPTION:The Perinatal Substance Use ECHO program provides education and training to providers to best support pregnant and parenting people with substance use during their pregnancy\, birth and postpartum. This includes educational sessions\, case reviews and discussions of best practice templates and protocols specifically focused on inpatient and outpatient perinatal substance use and substance use disorders. It is our goal to develop standardized treatment approaches for perinatal substance use care that will allow for statewide standardization of best practice for all birthing patients affected by substance use and substance use disorders.

The goal is to increase health care workforce capacity (knowledge\, self-efficacy) and intent to offer OUD and other SUD treatment through UMRISE. \n\nTopics Covered\n\n\nAddiction Fundamentals\nMental Health\nHarm Reduction\nConsiderations for special patient populations: Indigenous\, pregnant women\, geriatric\, unhoused\, justice-involved\, etc.\n\nAccreditation Information\nIn support of improving patient care\, Essentia Health is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME)\, the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE)\, and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)\, to provide continuing education for the healthcare team. \nEssentia Health designates this live activity for a maximum of 1.0 ANCC contact hours. \nEssentia Health is an approved Minnesota Board of Social Work Continuing Education Provider. SUMMARY:Hypertension in Pregnancy – Your role as a Support Person
DESCRIPTION:High blood pressure\, also known as hypertension\, can be especially dangerous for pregnant people. Professionals who work with pregnant people in any capacity – even non-clinical – should be aware of the warning signs\, risks for both the mother and baby\, when medical intervention is needed\, and how they can provide needed support and resources. This webinar will introduce the basics of hypertension and what it can lead to in pregnancy. Participants will also get an overview of resources available to pregnant clients\, and a basic understanding of when they should be contacting their medical provider. \nFor those wanting a deeper understanding of the issue\, an additional in-person training for home visitors and other professionals will be held on Monday\, March 30th.
