SUMMARY:Conversation with the Experts: SSRIs During Pregnancy and Lactation
DESCRIPTION:Maternal Mental Health Leadership Alliance is offering a 4-part webinar series in Fall 2026 designed specifically for healthcare and mental health providers\, public health professionals\, policymakers\, and people with lived experience in their role as advocates. \nWebinar Dates: \n\nSeptember 17\, 2026\nOctober 15\, 2026\nNovember 19\, 2026\nDecember 17\, 2026\n\nAbout this Session on October 15\, 2026\, from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm CDT: \nSelective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) are a class of antidepressant medications that are used to treat mental health conditions in pregnant and postpartum women. In this webinar\, experts in perinatal mental health will share the latest research on SSRIs during pregnancy and lactation; discuss risks\, benefits\, and efficacy; present a framework for decision-making on the use of SSRIs; and offer clinical insights from the perspectives of obstetrics\, pediatrics\, and psychiatry.

SUMMARY:Rural Improving Maternal & Perinatal Access\, Care\, and Teamwork (IMPACT) Sprint Session 2
DESCRIPTION:The MNPQC Rural Improving Maternal & Perinatal Access\, Care\, and Teamwork (IMPACT) Sprint brings together multidisciplinary individuals from rural and critical access hospitals to strengthen obstetric emergency readiness through evidence-based practices\, shared learning\, and quality improvement. Guided by the AIM’s Obstetric Emergency Readiness Resource Kit\, participants will gain practical tools and strategies to improve recognition\, response\, communication\, and transfer processes while building sustainable systems that support safe\, respectful\, and high-quality maternity care close to home. \nSession 2: Recognition & Early Warning Systems\nDate: October 15\, 2026\, at 12 PM CT\nRecognition of obstetrical emergencies is a key component of quality care. This session will discuss maternal early warning criteria (MEWS/MEWT)\, recommended escalation pathways\, and provide strategies to implement documentation and communication triggers. Through this discussion\, participants will be provided with actionable strategies to improve emergency recognition and response\, especially within Emergency Department settings. \nSession 3: Team Roles\, Communication & Drills\nDate: November 12\, 2026\, at 12 PM CT\nThis session will explore strategies to strengthen team coordination through clearly defined roles\, structured communication tools such as prebriefs\, huddles\, and debriefs\, as well as low-dose\, high-frequency simulation practices that build confidence and readiness. Participants will identify opportunities to improve role clarity within their own teams and engage in interactive activities designed to practice coordinated emergency response in a supportive learning environment. \nSession 4: Hemorrhage Readiness: Supplies & Systems\nDate: December 17\, 2026\, at 12 PM CT\nThis session will focus on strategies for standardizing hemorrhage readiness through organized hemorrhage carts\, timely access to first- and second-line medications and blood products\, and the use of checklists and visual aids to support clinical decision-making during emergencies. Participants will review practical examples from established quality improvement initiatives\, discuss approaches to optimizing supply organization within their own settings\, and collaborate on tools that promote consistent\, reliable emergency preparedness. \nSession 5: Response & Transfer Coordination\nDate: January 14\, 2027\, at 12 PM CT\nThis session will highlight evidence-informed strategies for the initial stabilization of obstetric hemorrhage\, hypertensive emergencies\, and sepsis\, while emphasizing structured communication and standardized transfer workflows. Participants will examine best practices for collaborating with emergency medical services (EMS) and referral centers\, and work together to develop practical tools—such as transfer checklists and transfer packets—that promote safe\, efficient transitions of care for pregnant and postpartum patients. \nSession 6: Sustainability\, Data\, & Culture\nDate: February 11\, 2027\, at 12 PM CT\nThis session will have participants examine approaches to measuring readiness through process and outcome measures\, fostering a culture of learning through structured debriefing\, and integrating evidence-based practices into routine care. Through shared learning and reflection\, teams will discuss lessons learned from their quality improvement work and identify strategies to sustain meaningful improvements in their organizations.

SUMMARY:Leveraging System Strengths to Solve Capacity Gaps in Limited-Resource Environments Session 4
DESCRIPTION:This four-part Community of Learning (CoL) series\, Leveraging System Strengths to Solve Capacity Gaps in Limited-Resource Environments\, examines how leadership\, networks\, flexibility\, and collaboration can equip AIM participating facilities operating in limited-resource environments to implement AIM patient safety bundles (PSB). The CoL will focus on how system strengths can be leveraged to address many of the current challenges\, including competing priorities and limited capacity\, the solo champion reality\, and how small denominators make traditional data analysis a challenge. \nTogether\, they will explore strategies for staff support\, customized bundle rollout\, and data utilization for QI in low-volume settings. Each session features insights from AIM entities and participating hospitals\, offering real-world strategies to strengthen systems for sustainable change: \n\nSession 1: From Solo Champion to System Catalyst: Leading Change in Limited-Resource Perinatal Care Setting | Thursday\, May 21\, 2026\, at 2:00 PM CT\nSession 2: Meeting Facilities Where They Are: Considerations for Customizing PSB Implementation | Thursday\, July 23\, 2026\, at 2:00 PM CT\nSession 3: The Power of Connection: Scaling Maternal Care Through Partnerships | Thursday\, September 10\, 2026\, at 2:00 PM CT\nSession 4: Strategies for data utilization in low-volume settings | Thursday\, October 15\, 2026\, at 2:00 PM CT
